Begin with the agreed accounts
The scope should identify which bank accounts, credit cards, entities, and software files are included. Explain where customers pay you and whether another platform handles invoicing or sales. A recurring fee is easier to evaluate when everyone knows what work it covers.
Follow a repeatable monthly close
A typical routine reviews transactions, reconciles agreed accounts, raises questions, and prepares reports. Your bookkeeper may need statements, receipts, and explanations from you. Decide when those records are due and how questions will be returned.
Use the reports
Look at the month’s income and expenses, changes from prior periods, and balances that need explanation. Ask about unexpected totals instead of assuming every movement means the business is doing better or worse. Payments on debt and purchases of equipment can affect cash differently from ordinary operating costs.
Understand separate services
Catch-up work, tax filing, payroll, invoice collection, and specialized reporting should be identified separately if needed. SV offers monthly bookkeeping, cleanup, QuickBooks support, and tax filing; the consultation is where you agree on which services belong in your plan.
